In Memoriam
Master Police Officer Christopher Grosz
On October 13 it will be one year since the untimely death of Master Police Officer Christopher Grosz, a ten-year Littleton Police veteran.
As reported on the Littleton Police Department webpage, Grosz, an Evergreen High School graduate, began his law enforcement career with the University of Northern Colorado as a police intern. After receiving his bachelor’s degree at UNC, Chris was hired by the Manitou Police Department where he worked one year. He started with the Littleton Police Department in 1995.
Grosz excelled in many assignments including: SWAT Negotiator, Community Outreach Officer, Field Training Instructor, and Firearms Instructor. He taught Arrest Control at Arapahoe Community College and Red Rocks Community College police academies where he was the latter’s program coordinator. Professionally, Chris excelled most at teaching police officers how to protect themselves. Chris possessed a passion for learning new defensive skills and passed this extensive knowledge to others in law enforcement.
“He embraced every assignment with professionalism, compassion and creativity…
Chris was a wonderful young man, a true gentleman, and a devoted father and husband.”
– Littleton City Manager Jim Woods
Grosz was a certified instructor trainer in Pressure Point Control Tactics, one of only 268 in the world. Grosz was awarded the Medal of Valor in 2005 for an incident where he defended a group of police officers that a suspect attempted to run down with a car.
“He embraced every assignment with professionalism, compassion and creativity. As a Community Resource Officer, he was committed to working with apartment managers and owners in his district on the many challenging issues that occur in that neighborhood. His efforts made a tremendous difference in the lives of many people. Chris was a wonderful young man, a true gentleman, and a devoted father and husband.” said Littleton City Manager Jim Woods.
Now is a good time to remember him and his contribution to the people of Littleton and to acknowledge the service of other police officers.
Officer Grosz, we miss you and thank you for your service.
